Woman Arrested on Treasure Island After Suspected Hit-and-Run In SF's Tenderloin

A fatal hit-and-run collision in the Tenderloin early Sunday led to the arrest of a female suspect who fled the scene and was found on Treasure Island.

San Francisco police responded to the scene of a pedestrian collision around 1:05 am Sunday on the 800 block of Ellis Street, as KTVU reports.

A male victim was found at the scene, and he was taken to the hospital where he pronounced dead.

"The vehicle and driver involved fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival," the SFPD said in a release. "Through the course of the investigation, officers traced the vehicle’s location to Treasure Island. Upon arrival officers discovered that California Highway Patrol officers had the suspect vehicle stopped for an unrelated traffic violation."

The female suspect was then arrested by the SFPD and booked into SF County Jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide and hit-and-run.

Neither the suspect's nor the victim's name has been released.

This was potentially SF's 23rd homicide of the year to date.

While an arrest has been made, this is still an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the SFPD tip line at 415-575-4444, or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with “SFPD.” Tipsters can remain anonymous.
