Dallas police arrested La’Tyron Richmond, 19, on a capital murder charge in the fatal shooting of Elidrian Trovell Reed, 23, the department announced October 25.
The arrest came October 23, one week after officers found Reed shot in the 7300 block of Marvin D Love. The Dallas County jail record lists Richmond in custody under booking number 26049955 and warrant number F2677152.
Officers responded to an assist officer call at about 9:14 a.m. October 16. Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel pronounced Reed dead at the scene, police said.
The Dallas Express reported the killing October 19 in a story that also covered a separate homicide on Harry Hines Boulevard. At that time, police had not announced a suspect or arrest in Reed’s case.
The department’s October 25 update identifies Richmond and the charge but does not describe what evidence led to his arrest.
Texas law requires an additional circumstance listed in Section 19.03 for a killing to qualify as capital murder. One provision covers an intentional murder committed during certain other crimes, including robbery, burglary or kidnapping.
The police update does not identify the circumstance authorities allege in Richmond’s case. The charge alone does not establish that a robbery, burglary or any other specific accompanying offense occurred.
For defendants who committed capital murder as adults, Texas law provides life without parole if prosecutors do not seek death. If prosecutors seek death, the punishment can include life without parole or a death sentence following conviction.
The jail record showed $0 bond as of 5:01 p.m. October 25. The county explains that a zero entry means the magistrate could not set bond. The listing does not authorize Richmond’s release without payment.
Police list Reed’s homicide under case number 152598-2026. Anyone with information can contact Detective J. Morgan at 214-425-9905.
